Nemours pediatric health system announced that Dr. Lisa C. Barkley will work with it to develop adolescent and sports medicine programs in Central Florida.

Nemours will establish a new full-service children’s hospital in Orlando in 2012.
In addition to her work at Nemours, Barkley was recently appointed to serve as the assistant dean for diversity and inclusion at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, where she is also an assistant professor of medicine.

“We are extremely excited to have Dr. Barkley join us in Orlando. She has a wealth of knowledge concerning adolescent and youth health choices and will be able to serve as an advocate for children in Central Florida,” said Dr. Judy Wall, medical director at Nemours Children’s Clinic, Orlando.

Nemours owns and operates the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del., and major children’s specialty clinics in Jacksonville, Orlando, Pensacola, Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. It employs more than 4,100 people, including 430 pediatric physicians, specialists and surgeons who cared for almost a quarter of a million children in 2009.
