Underwater photography is becoming very popular, and the results are typically mind-blowing. Such is the case with the following eight photographs by Howard Schatz in his H20 shoot. Some of the images may not be safe for work, but they are stunning, and I know our readers will enjoy them. Make sure you check out more of Schatz’s underwater photos.

Even though Lake Nona Pools is primarily a pool cleaning and maintenance company, we’re working to become pool builders in the near future, and we’re starting a series here to give you inspiration if you’re looking to build a pool, or even if you just want ideas for your deck.

We’re lucky to be in Lake Nona, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We see so many amazing pools, and plan to feature some of them in this series, but other times, we’ll share pools from all over the world – like this pool we’re showing today.

The first thing I noticed with this pool was the fire pit. This has been a huge trend in swimming pool design in 2011, and I’m sure it will continue. Having the fire and water elements together produces a zen-like state and is very simple to incorporate – even if you just purchase a stand-alone fire pit and place it on your deck.

Here’s a view of the swimming pool from the master bedroom. Orlando builders have been following the trend of having large windows facing out to the pool area from the bedrooms and living areas, so your pool not only changes your backyard…it also changes the views from almost everywhere in your home.

This picture is more about inspiration for your deck. Again, notice the fire pit. I also like the built-in bench which will come in handy for eating, or placing your pool gear while you’re in the pool.

Yep, it’s still Water Safety month, and we’re still talking water safety here – though today is arguably one of the most hypocritical posts you’ll ever see here.

Let me clarify…

Most hotels or resorts have a rule of No Glassware near the swimming pool. Broken glass on a pool deck is a huge safety concern, and broken glass IN a pool is a million times worse! Glass is invisible in a swimming pool, making it impossible to see, and just as difficult to clean out.

Speaking from experience, swimming pool decks can get very slippery when they get wet. As we continue our Water Safety theme this month, we want to share with you a new shoe with a minimalistic design..that just might save your butt (literally) while on the pool deck.

The Footsticker is a flexible plastic membrane that sticks to your skin like a, well, like a second-skin. There are three designs, each conceived for a different activity. The cream-colored yoga skins, for example, offer high-grip protection for the heel, big-toe and the pad immediately behind the big toe.

Other shapes stick on to protect your feet during dancing or “combat cardio”, stopping injury to the most used spots of the feet but letting the muscles and bones move over each other without restriction, one of the attractions of doing sports barefoot.

I’ve never tried these, so I can’t speak for how well they work around a pool, but looking at them, I’d say they’re perfect. If you have tried them, we’d love to hear about your experience in the comments!

The SwimFin looks like a great swimming pool toy, but it might be much, much more. The SwimFin is a strap-on float the looks like a shark fin (its design precludes it from being a safety device, I recommend it only be used under supervision). Besides the fun of becoming a finned swimmer, the device can help some youth swimmers overcome the fear of going in the water and can add buoyancy to aid swimmers while they develop their swimming technique.

Well what do we have here? If you’re a reader of the Lake Nona Pool’s blog, you might remember a post we did recently about another swimming pool on a cliff. Turns out, it wasn’t the only one.

I’m a bit of a techie, so I was shocked to see this product went completely under my radar. Speedo (yeah, those guys), makes a pretty impressive waterproof mp3 player, which might make the perfect stocking stuffer for the swimmer(s) in your family.

Don’t have much info on this amazing house, but it has one of the coolest swimming pools we’ve ever seen. Sadly, there’s only one picture of the pool, but I think you’ll agree that the one picture is enough to earn it a spot here.

From what I can tell, the house was inspired by a Picasso painting.
